Nextgen Project: Understanding the emotional challenges of Spanish youth

From the research team in Psychiatric Epidemiology and Mental Health (EPISAM) at the Complutense University of Madrid, we are pleased to announce the implementation of the Nextgen project, a nationally representative study focused on adolescents aged 12 to 18. This study aims to understand the emotional challenges faced by young people in Spain.

Our purpose is to promote open conversations about adolescent mental health and, in turn, improve their emotional well-being. To achieve this, we seek to obtain a clear and authentic perspective of their emotional experiences, which will allow us to prevent and address these challenges more effectively.

The participation of young people will consist of an online interview conducted by mental health professionals. Through these interviews, we will directly hear the voices of adolescents to gain a detailed understanding of their experiences.

This study is part of the SURVIVE project. The SURVIVE Consortium is made up of mental health professionals and researchers from various hospitals, universities, and research centers in Spain who collaborate with the aim of studying suicidal behavior in Spain and developing effective prevention and treatment programs.

The Next-Gen Project is funded by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ref. PI23/00085) and co-financed by FEDER funds.
