World Suicide Prevention Day
Creating hope through action
Approximately 700,000 people die by suicide every year. In Spain alone, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics, more than 3,000 people died of suicide in 2020.
Despite these figures, suicide continues to be silenced, which is why it is essential to raise awareness about how to prevent it in all areas of society. One of the initiatives carried out by the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) to achieve this is the celebration of World Suicide Prevention Day, which is celebrated annually on September 10.
Cycle Around the Globe and Light a Candle activities will be held, which together with the lem "Creating Hope through Action", emphasize the need for collective action to address this problem, which should be treated as a public health problem that involves everyone.
