Call to life. Telephone 024, hotline for suicidal behavior
The Ministry of Health launches the 024 hotline for attention to suicidal behavior.
The 024-telephone number of the Ministry of Health and managed by the Red Cross has been in operation since May 10. 024 is a free, anonymous and confidential telephone line nationwide for attention to suicidal behavior.
A multidisciplinary team of specialized professionals attends every day of the year, 24 hours a day with the aim of providing emotional support to people with suicidal thoughts and their families in a way that it is possible to prevent suicidal behavior.
Even though there are many necessary measures given the high number of deaths by suicide, 3,941 people took their own lives throughout the year 2020, this service represents a small step forward in the prevention and attention of this silenced threat.
